Someone of you may not know me but have seen me for I am the Chinese woman who take photos at any court in the Middle Kingdom that I attend.  I often take pictures of everyone receiving awards so there may be a photo of you or your friend receiving an award that you didn't know existed.

I am a big fan of sharing photos so I'm hoping by posting here, that more people will know where to find my photos.

Please feel free to download photos and use them for any personal or non-profit use.

Update on Radelt Boys [30 Mar 2009|07:11pm]

midnightpeapod
[ mood | full of hope ]

Hakon/Mickey has been awake and alert, they tested his motor and speech functions and they are great! He had the same injury in the same place to the same degree  as the actress who died last week. Mickey got medical treatment in time.

Leoric/Merrick has come out of surgery just fine. His kneecap was broken - not the tibia as originally thought. Also, the rest of is injury is not nearly as bad as they thought! Awesome news all around!

JoAnn is asking people to please wait for information rather than calling her. We have a chain of informants and will keep everyone informed! They have limited battery power and reception at the hospital is not great.

Prayer Request for Scadian Family [30 Mar 2009|12:05am]

midnightpeapod
[ mood | hopeful ]

Hakon (m.k.a. Mickey Radelt), 19 years old, was doing yard work this afternoon and was struck on the head by a tree branch. He was bleeding internally and they did emergency brain surgery to cauterize a blood vessel in his brain. He is currently in ICU. So far they are worried about his speech being slow, but they believe his surgery was successful.

Leoric (m.k.a. Merrick Radelt), 15 years old, is having knee surgery tomorrow afternoon. He injured his knee at a LARP last weekend.

Hakon is an adult heavy fighter and Leoric is the Northwoods Baronial Youth Boffer Champion as well as being a recipient of the Award of The Baton. Their parents are Lord Schwartz Wilhelm and Lady Petra both Heavy Fighters of Ironwolf. They are in the Midrealm.

This is cross-posted every place I can think of to post it!

UPDATE 3-30 11AM - from his Dad (Lord Schwartz Wilhelm)
Mick is currently sleeping.  He came through surgery well. He has a linear fracture on the left side, behind the ear going toward the top of the skull.  An artery in the subdural layer was cut by the fracture. This was the reason for the bleeding. They cauterized the bleeding artery and truncated it at the branch. After which they bled him, Actually, allowed the excess fluids to drain. The fracture is expected to heal on its own without complications. He was/is talking and all neurological indicators look very good for a full recovery.

[ mood | medieval ]

While I am always looking for helpers and activity ideas, this note is actually to promote the 2nd Annual All Ages A&S Tournament! (April 18, 2009 Howell, MI - www.scakids.org)

Most of the time Children/Youth A&S entries are not judged, however, at "It Takes My Child..." there is a Bean Count for everyone - no matter their age - Last Year's Overall Winner was a Four Year old! (He made "Tune-up" (Turnip) Soup, Bread, and Herb Butter "for the Baron's Lunch")

This year we have 5 Divisions for Competition:
A. 7 and Younger
B. 8-12 years
C. 13-17 years
D. 18+
E. Group - 2 or more people cooperatively working on a single project.

For more information (and to get a head start by downloading the form!) Click Here!

Please encourage your Child(ren), Nieces, Nephews, and members of your local group (Children of All Ages!) to work on an A&S project for this event!
For Group Entries - Members of Group do not have to be of Blood Relation (Hint: Your entire Canton can work on a project together) as long as at least one member of the Group is under the age of 18!

Have Fun and Do Your Best! We hope to see you (and your entry!) in April!

I just joined this group today to use as an aid to try and decide if I want to join the SCA, if they will have me, or not. I have not been a part of the group before, though we did have a Renaissance Club in my high school.

I'm trying to decide what I would or could do in such a group. I belong to another organization that takes a bit of my time but I'm willing to expand. I went to Red Dragon last year and Northern Oaken War Maneuvers this year and enjoyed both experiences. I have friends that are active and inactive members.

I hope my joining is okay and any insight any person can lend would be appreciated.

Picking A Name [28 Mar 2008|07:24am]

I have been thinking about my name for a while. I am not up to the persona part yet so that will come a little later. I am going Irish and have picked a few names to choose from. Please give opinions.

Given: Orflait (pronounced Orlaith), Sorca (accent over the C), and Isibeal (accent over the E)

Surname: Brant, Coipingeir (accent over the E), Dairdis, and Drac (accent over the C)

I do have to admit I am leaning heavily on Drac because it means dragon and I love dragons. My first tattoo is a dragon with a celtic symbol and I own several figures of them.

So please what do you think?

Pennsic 35 Photo Galleries [20 Nov 2006|12:38pm]

I have finally had a chance to catch up on processing photos and my Pennsic 35 photo galleries are now OPEN to the public. My apologies for taking SO LONG to do the work, life has been very busy. In fact I recently married and have moved so I hope you all can understand the delay.

I tried to capture different subjects from the previous years. There is SO much to Pennsic that I feel I can do something different every year and never run out of options.

Please feel free to visit the galleries. You can leave comments directly under any photo or in a gallery itself. The names of people or anything else you wish to write is always a welcome addition. Just please no snarky or rude comments. I just delete those.

Also, I am still selling Pennsic War calendars on eBay. They run from last Pennsic to the next with a count-down of how many days until Pennsic 36. I’m lowering the price for the holidays, so be sure to get some for your SCAdian friends! LOL

One more thing I would like to mention is that I will be for sale at Vlad’s Slave Auction again at Pennsic 36. You can bid on my photo services and as long as I have no prior commitments I’ll shoot any event or subject of the winner’s choice.

Kilt question (crossposted in several places) [26 Jul 2005|11:04am]

Any men out there wear kilts?

My sweetie just got one at Baron Wars and he's chomping at the bit to wear it at Pennsic. I can't wait - he's got great legs! But I have a couple questions to help him get this right...

I know it's supposed to be knee-length, but due to the way he's built, it hangs to mid-calf in the front and hikes up in the back. Should I hem it or just cut it? (it's wool & already sewn into pleats). I know I'm going to have to "level it out" so that it hangs straight all the way 'round.

Also, when we bought it, it had no straps or buttons or anything on it. Some sites I've read say you just wear it with a belt, others say you need straps & buckles sewn on.

What's your experience/recommendation?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give us.

Greetings gentles,

I am a newbie to the SCA. I reside in the Middle Kingdom in the Shire of Aurea Ripea.

I had watched a demo a long time ago when I was in the Air Force and got transferred before I could get involved. Wasn;t aware that there was a local SCA group until I went to the local Apple festival and the local group was doing a demo.

I talked to them and got the info and have started attending the meetings. I will be going to my first event, the Christmas Tourney in Louisville this weekend. I am so stoked, and I was told that TRM and TRH will be in attendance and holding court. I can;t wait to experience this.

Anyway, I am trying to settle on a persona, right now, my temporary one is a 12th century English storyteller named Nigel. I didn;t think it would be so hard to choose. :)

I just wanted to post my introduction and if you wish to add me to your friends list, I will do likewise.

Safe travels to ye all.

I have as of earlier today joined the SCA officially as officially as one can for filling out the online application anyway. I have no persona yet, I have a general period in mind and some names in mind. I am not sure how many events I'll be able to make but am in the South Oaken Region located nearest to Dragonsmark, Val D'azure, and Marchers Keep branches. I do hope to be able to make some events and meetings nearby but not being able to drive due to being legally blind will attribute to that. Also I am more interested in the Arts and Sciences and have several ideas what I'm interested in.
